Life happens, but cancellations from sitters can disrupt a pet parentās plans – and their trust. Thatās why Petme has clear rules when a sitter cancels a booking:
- Before the cancellation policy period: The pet parent receives a full refund of sitter fees.
- During the cancellation policy period: The pet parent receives a full refund of sitter fees.
- During the booking (boarding & house sitting only): The pet parent receives 100% of the unused sitter fees, plus 50% of the fees for time already completed. The sitter keeps only the remaining 50% of time already completed.
In addition to the financial rules, cancellations can impact your sitter profile:
- They may lower your reliability score, which pet parents see when choosing sitters.
- Multiple cancellations can reduce your chances of being booked in the future.
- Unjustified cancellations may attract negative reviews from pet parents.
Petme understands emergencies happen, which is why thereās flexibility in the system. But sitters are encouraged to avoid cancellations whenever possible. If you ever need to cancel, communicate with the pet parent quickly and clearly to minimize disruption.
š” Pro tip: Keep your calendar up to date to reduce the chance of needing to cancel a confirmed booking.
