TL;DR: Extended care fees apply to bookings longer than 24 hours. They’re calculated automatically based on the extra time, but you can always adjust with custom offers.
When a pet parent needs your services for more than 24 hours, Petme applies extended care fees to make sure you’re fairly compensated for the additional time. These fees are clear and transparent from the moment a booking is created, so both you and the client know what to expect upfront.
Here’s how extended care is calculated:
- 0–2 hours beyond 24 hours: No extra charge.
- 2–8 hours beyond 24 hours: 50% of your standard service rate is applied on top of the booking price.
- 8+ hours beyond 24 hours: 100% of your standard service rate is applied on top of the booking price.
This structure ensures that if a booking runs, say, 28 hours, you’re compensated for that half-day. If it runs 36 hours, you’ll be paid for an additional full day.
Importantly, these fees are applied only when a booking is created or modified – they’re not for unexpected delays or last-minute changes. If a pet parent returns later than planned, you’ll need to create a new booking to cover that extra time.
And while the extended care fees give you a fair baseline, you always have the option to use custom offers. This lets you tailor pricing depending on the situation – whether you want to provide a more attractive package to a loyal client, adjust for special circumstances, or offer a competitive rate for a long-term stay.
Extended care fees are there to protect your earnings, but custom offers give you the flexibility to run your pet sitting business your way. With Petme, you stay in control of how you price your time, while keeping things clear and transparent for pet parents.
