Getting paid as a sitter in Brazil

Updated October 2, 20263 min read

Due to restrictions from Brazil's Central Bank, Petme is currently unable to process payouts in Brazilian reais (BRL). Brazilian sitters are therefore not onboarded through Stripe. Instead, you are paid in euros (EUR) through Revolut.

This article explains how to get set up and how Revolut works.

How you get paid

  1. Create a free Revolut account
  2. Find your Revolut tag
  3. Add your Revolut tag to your sitter profile

After each booking, your payout is sent to your Revolut account in euros.

Step 1: Create a free Revolut account

Sign up for free at revolut.com or download the Revolut app. You will need to verify your identity in the app, which usually only takes a few minutes.

Step 2: Find your Revolut tag

Your Revolut tag is your unique username on Revolut, and it starts with @. To find it:

  1. Open the Revolut app
  2. Tap your profile icon in the top-left corner
  3. Your Revolut tag appears under your name

Step 3: Add your Revolut tag to Petme

Go to your profile → Your sitter profile → Bank details, and enter your Revolut tag exactly as it appears in Revolut.

⚠️ Important: Double-check your Revolut tag before saving. If it is incorrect, your payouts cannot be processed.

How Revolut works

Revolut is a financial app that lets you hold, exchange and spend money in different currencies. Here is what you can do with your Petme earnings:

  • Keep your money in euros. Your payouts arrive in EUR, and you can leave them there for as long as you like.
  • Exchange to BRL. Convert your euros into Brazilian reais inside the app whenever you want.
  • Transfer to your bank account. Send money to your regular bank account.
  • Spend directly from Revolut. Get a free virtual card instantly, or order a physical card.

Choosing a Revolut plan

Revolut offers several plans with different features and fees. The Standard plan is completely free, and it is all you need to receive your Petme payouts. Paid plans add extras such as higher limits and travel perks, but they are optional. You can compare all plans on Revolut's pricing page.

💡 Tip: Fees and limits for exchanging money, transferring it and ordering cards can vary by plan, so check Revolut's pricing page before you convert or transfer large amounts.

Bank transfer details (backup)

As a backup, if a Revolut payment fails, we might ask you for your bank details to make sure you are always paid on time. If that happens, here is what we may ask for and where to find it.

This must exactly match the name registered on your bank account. Any mismatch may cause your transfer to be delayed or rejected by your bank.

CPF

Your CPF is your Brazilian individual taxpayer identification number - an 11-digit code issued by the Receita Federal. You can find it on your CPF card, identity document (RG), or through the Receita Federal website. We require this for tax and identity compliance purposes.

IBAN

Your IBAN (International Bank Account Number) is a 29-character code starting with BR that uniquely identifies your bank account for international transfers. You can find it in your banking app, online banking portal, or by asking your bank directly. It looks like this: BR18 0036 0305 0000 1000 9795 493C 1.

SWIFT/BIC code

This identifies your bank in the international payment system. You can find it in your banking app or by searching your bank’s name alongside “SWIFT code Brazil”. It is typically 8 to 11 characters long.

If you have trouble finding any of these details, contact your bank directly - they are required to provide them. For anything else, contact Petme support.
