How payments work on Petme

Updated October 18, 20261 min read

Every payment on Petme is made in the app, through our payment processing partner, Stripe. This keeps your bookings protected and makes sure sitters get paid.

What Petme will never do

  • Ask you for your card details by email, chat or phone.
  • Ask you to make a payment outside of Petme.
  • Ask you to pay a pet parent or a sitter directly, or through another app.

If anyone asks you for any of these, don't do it, and let us know at support@petme.social.

How your payment details are protected

Stripe is one of the world's leading payment processors. It encrypts your payment details and meets the highest security standard in the payments industry (PCI DSS Level 1). Petme never sees your card details: they go straight to Stripe.

For sitters, payouts go to your Stripe account. In countries where Stripe isn't available, we pay by Revolut or international bank transfer instead. See Getting paid in Brazil for an example.

How to know a message really comes from Petme

Our only official channel is email, and every email from us comes from an address ending in petme.social (for example support@petme.social or notify.petme.social). Besides email, we only contact you through the notifications inside the Petme app. We never contact you by chat, social media, text message or messaging apps, so a message that comes from anywhere else is not from us.

If you are unsure whether a message is real, forward it to support@petme.social and we will check it for you. You can also report a profile directly in the app: open the profile, tap the three dots (top right), then Report.
