How payments work on Petme
Your pet is family, so we want you to feel safe at every step. The simplest way to stay safe on Petme is to book and pay inside the app. All payments are processed by our payment partner, Stripe.
Why you should always pay inside Petme
- Your booking is protected. When you book and pay in the app, the booking is confirmed for you and your sitter, and our refund rules apply. See Cancellations and refunds.
- You earn cashback. Cashback is only added to bookings completed through Petme. See How does cashback work?.
- Your sitter is verified. Every sitter goes through our identity and background checks before they can accept bookings.
- Your details stay private. You never have to send your card details to anyone.
What Petme will never do
- Ask you for your card details by email, chat or phone.
- Ask you to make a payment outside of Petme.
- Ask you to pay a sitter directly, or through another app.
If anyone asks you for any of these, don't do it, and let us know at support@petme.social.
How your payment details are protected
Stripe is one of the world's leading payment processors. It encrypts your payment details and meets the highest security standard in the payments industry (PCI DSS Level 1). Petme never sees your card details: they go straight to Stripe.
Before the booking is paid and confirmed
Chat with the sitter as much as you like, but wait until the booking is paid and confirmed in the app before you share your address or hand over your keys.
How to know a message really comes from Petme
Our only official channel is email, and every email from us comes from an address ending in petme.social (for example support@petme.social or notify.petme.social). Besides email, we only contact you through the notifications inside the Petme app. We never contact you by chat, social media, text message or messaging apps, so a message that comes from anywhere else is not from us.
If you are unsure whether a message is real, forward it to support@petme.social and we will check it for you. You can also report a profile directly in the app: open the profile, tap the three dots (top right), then Report.
