How do I update my location?
Your location is one of the first things pet parents use to find you. Petme shows your profile to people searching in your area, so if you've moved — or your pin never landed quite right — updating it takes less than a minute.
How to update your location
- Go to your profile
- Tap Dashboard
- Under Settings, tap Sitter profile
- Tap Location
- Tap the compass icon on the map — this jumps the pin to where you are right now
- If the pin needs adjusting, drag the map until the pin sits where you want it
- Tap Done to save
Petme uses the map pin rather than a typed address. The compass is the quickest way to get it right — just make sure your phone's location is turned on before you tap it.
What pet parents actually see
Petme never shows your exact address to anyone. What pet parents see is an approximate area — enough for them to know you're nearby, not enough to find your front door. This is true whether you're in the center of a city or a quieter residential area.
If the pin is in the wrong place
The compass relies on your phone's GPS. If it drops you somewhere unexpected — a street over, or in a completely different neighborhood — here's what to check:
- Make sure location permissions are enabled for Petme in your phone settings
- Try stepping outside or moving to a window if you're indoors
- If GPS isn't cooperating, you can skip the compass and just drag the map manually to the right area
The pin doesn't need to be perfectly precise. Petme rounds your location for privacy anyway, so landing within your neighborhood is accurate enough.
After you save
Changes take effect straight away. Pet parents searching in your area will see your updated location on your profile from that point on. If you've moved to a new city or neighborhood and your booking requests felt off, this is usually why.
