Before you apply
Thank you for your interest in becoming a pet sitter on Petme! Before you apply, we recommend that you take a few minutes to get to know how the platform works. It will make your application smoother and help you start with the right expectations.
Get to know Petme
Please familiarise yourself with:
- Our website: petme.social explains what Petme is and how it works.
- This Help Center: you will find step-by-step guides for everything in this article, and answers to the most common questions.
- Our Terms and Conditions: read the Terms for pet sitters so you know the rules of the platform and what is expected of you.
The rules of the platform in short
- Communication and payments between pet parents and sitters must stay on Petme. Accepting bookings or payments outside the platform goes against our rules and can lead to the suspension of your account. Read more in How payments work on Petme.
- Petme does not guarantee bookings. Pet parents choose the sitter they feel is the best fit for their pet. Read more in Will I get bookings?.
Is Petme available where you live?
Check the list of countries where Petme is available before you apply.
From application to your first booking
- Create a pet sitter account and apply. Download the Petme app or sign up on the web at petme.social, choose pet sitter account during the onboarding (you can't change your account type later), then tap Apply now on your profile page. Our step-by-step guide: How to apply.
- Wait for approval. Our team reviews every application manually.
- Pay the one-time verification fee. Once your application is approved, you pay a one-time fee that covers the review of your application, identity verification and background checks. It is non-refundable and does not guarantee bookings. Read more in What is the verification fee?.
- Complete your ID and background check. After paying, you upload a government-issued ID and take a selfie.
- Set up your sitter profile. Add a profile photo, your location, experience and a short description. See How do I set up my sitter profile?.
- Set up how you get paid. In most countries, Stripe processes your payouts. See How do I set up Stripe?. Please finish this before your first booking, so your payment is not delayed. Stripe is not used in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica and El Salvador: there you add your payout details under Bank details in your sitter profile instead.
- Add your services and rates. You decide which services you offer and how much you charge. See How do I add services and rates?.
Once these steps are complete, your profile goes live and pet parents can find you.
How you get paid
- Pet parents pay in the app, and your payout arrives after the booking ends. See When will I get paid?.
- Petme charges a service fee on your earnings, which depends on your plan. See What is Petme's fee?.
