How do I offer pet grooming on Petme?
Petme sitters who groom professionally can now offer pet grooming. You can offer grooming alongside your pet sitting services, or on its own: once you're approved as a groomer, you only need to activate the services you want.
Who can offer grooming
Grooming is open to approved Petme sitters who groom professionally. Because groomers handle pets that aren't their own, everyone goes through the pet sitter application and checks first, even if you only want to offer grooming.
- Sign up with a pet sitter account and complete the pet sitter application. See How do I become a sitter?.
- Once you're approved, complete the verification and set up your profile so it's active, including your Stripe account, which you need to receive your payments. See How do I set up Stripe?.
- Apply to offer grooming (see below). There's no additional fee to apply.
You don't have to offer pet sitting once your grooming is approved. You're welcome to, if you'd like to earn a little extra on the side.
What you need to apply
- At least 6 months of paid, professional grooming experience
- 3 to 6 before and after photos of pets you groomed: same pet, similar angle, no filters
- Proof: a certificate or diploma, an employer reference, or your website or social link
- Your own grooming tools and equipment
It's your responsibility to comply with the local laws and regulations where you groom, and to hold any licence or permit that's required for grooming services.
You'll also confirm that if a pet is stressed or it isn't safe to continue, you'll stop and contact the owner, and that the photos are of your own work.
How to apply
- Go to your Dashboard. Under Services, tap Grooming.
- Tap Apply, then Start application.
- Tell us about your grooming experience: how long you've groomed professionally, where you groomed (at a salon, self-employed or mobile), your salon or business name, and at least one proof.
- Add your before and after photos: 3 to 6 pets.
- Confirm the declarations and tap Send application.
Our team reviews your application and you'll hear from us soon. If it isn't approved, you can apply again from the date shown on the Grooming tile.
Setting up your grooming service
Once you're approved, tap Set up on the Grooming tile and choose:
- Where you groom: at your place, at the owner's home, or both. For home visits, set how far you travel.
- Your working hours.
- Your grooming menu: turn on what you offer and set a price for each pet size you accept (small, medium, large, giant), and the duration:
- Full groom: bath, haircut, nails and ears
- Bath & brush: bath, blow-dry, brush and nails
- Nails only: nail trim and file
- Extras, such as de-shedding and teeth brushing.
Prices are per session.
How a grooming booking works
When pet parents book grooming, they choose the service, any extras, the date and time, and where the groom takes place. They also tell you about their pet: its size, the condition of its coat (good, some tangles or matted), whether its vaccinations are up to date, and any notes for you.
Read these details carefully before the appointment. If a pet is stressed during the groom or it isn't safe to continue, stop and contact the owner.
Fees
Grooming bookings have the same service fee as pet sitting: it depends on your plan. The fee is deducted automatically from each booking, and the rest is paid out to your Stripe account. See What is Petme's fee?.
